What is laboratory grown?  A laboratory grown gemstone can be any material that takes on the appearance of a genuine stone.  Even obvious imitations such as glass or plastic can be accurately described as lab grown stones.  However, glass and plastic are soft compared to laboratory grown gem material and therefore don't wear as well or take as high a polish.  the simulated birthstones we offer are all genuine laboratory grown gemstones (either corundum or spinel), augmented with trace metallic elements to take on the appearance of much costlier gemstones.  They look like natural stones because they are made of gem material.
